Stop Being So Negative!

It's time to change that voice in your head.

One of the most important things to me as a coach is to help change that voice in your head. We all have it and it's so easy to listen to it.

It's the voice that says "go head, eat that piece of cake", "you don't have to go to the gym today" or even worse "you're never going to be good at anything so why bother?" What if you could change that voice to a loving and accepting tone that says instead "hey go for a quick walk around the floor at work" or "it's such a great day outside, I'm going to eat my lunch in the sun today" or "maybe I'll just go to the gym and try walking on the treadmill until I know what I should be doing.

We've all been there and it's really easy to listen to the bad vs the good but something I read awhile back was how to learn to be positive by accepting the good in your life. Instead of saying "ugh I have to go to work today", or "I have to take the kids to soccer", "I have to cook dinner", "I have to fold the laundry" change it over to "I get to take the kids to soccer", "I get to cook dinner", "I get to fold the laundry" - that makes you fortunate for what you have. There's people you probably know who don't have the luxury of being able to afford food so they can cook dinner, there are probably people you know who aren't fortunate enough to have kids so they'll never know what it means to take them to sports.

So the next time you say to yourself "I have to..." change it to "I get to...."
