What Should I Eat?


As a coach, I often have people asking what they should be eating. More often than not, they just don't know because they are so used to eating a certain way and might be afraid of trying new things. (I'm pretty sure we're all guilty of this!)


Then there's all the fads out there - paleo, low carb, high fat, no dairy, no grains...the list goes on and on. No wonder people get confused!


How many times have you had these thoughts run through your head:

  • Are potatoes good or bad?

  • What about eggs?

  • Can I eat pasta?

  • Is cheese okay?

  • Do I have to live without bacon?

To add to the confusion, it’s not always obvious how to classify a food. Is it mostly protein? A carbohydrate? A fat? Many people know to eat a mix of these macronutrients, yet aren’t sure how that looks in “real food”. The result: more questions.


That's why I'm excited to share this infographic from the great people over at Precision Nutrition. They help lessen some of the confusion by showing you how to pick your macros, how to make "better choices", what about when you're traveling? Learning how to build a better plate will not only make feel better, you'll hopefully stress a little less because they show you what foods to lessen and what foods to include more of and that will make your brain happier too!


And remember, you don't have to master this all right away. It's all trial and error but more importantly, it's about finding a way to create a healthy relationship with food and create long standing habits that will pay off in the long run.
